- InfoTech Fees Program
The College of Liberal Arts Office of Information Technology (CLA-OIT) and the CLA Student Technology Fee Committee are pleased to unveil a new internal grant program for CLA faculty, staff, and departments seeking funds for technology equipment and technology-rich projects that enhance the learning experience for our undergraduate and graduate students.
Awards: up to $5,000 for support or up to $50,000 for equipment.

Supports regular faculty who have received national or international research fellowships. Applications may be submitted at any time. - Sabbatical Leave and Sabbatical Supplement
Sabbatical leaves provide for a development leave up to one year at one-half salary and full benefits. Sabbatical leaves may be requested at any time. Sabbatical supplements provide additional support of up to 30% of the base salary. Sabbatical supplements are awarded competitively. Applications are reviewed annually during fall semester. - Scholar of the College
Awarded annually by the College of Liberal Arts in recognition of outstanding achievement by tenured faculty in the college. - Scholarly Events Fund
Supports scholarly events organized by CLA faculty, or in which faculty play a major role, especially when such events promise to make known to the broader community the strengths of the scholarly activities of the college and its faculty. - Single Semester Leave
Single semester leaves provide opportunity for a development leave of one semester in length at full salary and benefits. Single semester leaves are awarded competitively. Applications are reviewed annually during fall semester.

European Studies Consortium (ESC)
- The purpose of the ESC is to promote and support inquiry into Europe-related issues that engage scholars across disciplinary and collegiate borders.

Established by the Office of the Vice President and Vice Provost for Equity and Diversity, the University of Minnesota IDEA (Innovation, Diversity, Equity, and Achievement) Grants Program seeks to infuse equity and diversity into every aspect of the University’s work and operations by funding creative yet pragmatic proposals for projects that address issues of institutional equity and diversity.

Deadline: Early March. - OIP Pre-dissertation and Small Grants Competition: Supports current University of Minnesota graduate and professional degree students and are intended to support short-term activities that include travel and will enhance the student’s scholarly project and/or professional preparation.

Deadline: Late January. - OIP International Travel Grants: Funding for University faculty on all campuses to participate in one-time research or conference opportunities, or to support initial phases of projects that will ultimately be funded by other sources.

Funding for institutional linkages, faculty research, visiting scholars, U of M students, visiting Eastern European students.

- Public Engagement Seed Grants: Funding for projects established by members of the University community that will engage and serve the greater community.
Award: Up to $5,000.

Office of University Women
- Barceló Collaborative Multicultural Project Grants: Support for collaborative projects that help create a thriving campus community where diversity in the widest sense is welcomed and supported. Particular interest in efforts that affect the campus climate for women students, faculty, and staff of color.
Awards: $500 to $1,000 for Short-Term Projects and up to $2,500 for Institutional Change projects.
Deadline: Early March. - Special Grants: Support intended to foster and support increased awareness, improved understanding, and institutional change with respect to the campus climate for women faculty, staff, and students, including women of diverse racial, ethnic, and religious backgrounds, women with disabilities, women with diverse sexual orientations, and women from diverse social and economic backgrounds.
Awards: $500 to $1,000 for Short-Term Projects and up to $2,500 for Institutional Change projects.

Office of the Vice President for Research (OVPR)
- Development of Intercollegiate Research Proposals and Networks: Support for interdisciplinary, intercollegiate, and multi-institutional collaborative work in emerging research areas.
Award: Varies with grant purpose; $1,500 to $10,000.
Deadline: Proposals accepted at any time. - Minnesota Futures Grant Program: Support for two phases of interdisciplinary collaborative projects. Phase 1 solicits proposals to develop and convene interdisciplinary symposia around research questions of current significance. The purpose is to encourage development of interdisciplinary research proposals that will be submitted as part of Phase 2 of the program. Two awards of up to $25,000. Phase 2 will be a call for interdisciplinary research proposals that originate from the symposia. Up to three awards of $250,000 each will be offered to proposals submitted by participants in the symposia funded in Phase 1.
- RCR Continuing Education Awareness/Discussion Small Grants Program: Support for the development and organization of learning activities on research/professional ethics topics.
Award: up to $3,500. Deadline: October 15, 2007, January 30, 2008, and April 30, 2008. - UROP -- Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program: Support for undergraduate students working with a University of Minnesota Faculty Mentor.
Award: Student stipends of up to $1400 and research expenses of up to $300.

Senior VP for Academic Affairs and Provost
- President’s Faculty Multicultural Research Award Program: Support for research on issues related to people of color, particularly in a North American context.
Award: Up to $7,000/year for two years.
Deadline: October. - McKnight Events and Initiatives: Funding to bring important cultural and artistic events to the University campuses.
Award: Typically between $10,000 and $20,000.
